1. Log in to Yahoo! or BT Yahoo! and go to Mail. Then choose Options. Note that there are lots of different versions of the Yahoo! and BT Yahoo! menu screens, so yours may not look exactly like this. These screenshots are taken from the BT Yahoo! "Classic" interface in November 2007, but you may have to use a little initiative if yours are different. Some versions then require you to select Mail Options. |

2. Choose Mail Accounts (or in some versions Mail Addresses or Mail Settings or Accounts) |

3. All versions should lead you here.
Choose Add. |

4. Account Name can be anything. This is used only in the list of accounts so that you can recognise which is which. Fill in something sensible and then press Continue |

5. The Name will show up on e-mails you send out. It can be anything. Email will be checked against all emails you send out. If they do not use this email address in the From: header, the email will not be sent and an SMTP error will be returned. So this entry must exactly match the email address of items you wish to send through Yahoo! or BT Yahoo! (Note that both parts are checked – the bit before the @ and the bit after.) You must have access to the email address you enter here (it's going to be checked at step 7, below). Click Continue |

6. Skip this step unless you want to set up BT Yahoo! to collect e-mail from your other e-mail account and show it in your BT Yahoo! inbox. |

(This stage seems to be missing for some BT customers, who will see screen shot 11 next, see below. Most odd.) 7. Click Send Verification to send a check message to the e-mail address you entered at step 5, above. |

8. Check the email for the address you entered at step 5, above. Within a few seconds you should get an email there which ends like this. You need the code indicated. Either write it down, or copy it by highlighting it and pressing CRTL+C. |

9. Now – back at the BT Yahoo! screens – either type in the code you wrote down, or (if you did CRTL+C at stage 8) paste it in with CTRL+V. Then click Verify Account |

10. If asked, enter your BT Yahoo! password again and click Continue (not shown). |

11. You've finished. You can now sign out, go back to reading your inbox, or whatever. Click Mail Home or whatever you fancy. |
